Wholesome Recreational Activites
I don't know why but I really struggle with this particular phrase in the Proclamation on the Family. I think my family doesn't quite know how to have fun together. It seems kind of silly really. We do actually have fun together but when you sit down to explain about it--well sometimes it doesn't add up. Earlier today I made some pizza dough because I am trying really hard to cut our budget way back on food. Instead of spending $15 on store bought pizza I can make my own for about $2. Even with adding bacon it was still way cheap. Well when I got the dough out I told the kids to come in and they could make their own. I pre-baked the crusts a little and let them spoon the sauce out. They tried to toss their crusts but that ended up being just funny. I haven't had a lot of spare time where I feel like I can just hang out with my kids. I always feel like I have to be multi-tasking ten things. Today for ten minutes I just enjoyed them. It was lovely to not be rushing on to the next thing. We watched Gnomeo and Juliette for our movie and it felt more like a special activity as opposed to buying pizza and vegging out. Interacting "wholesomely" is something we need to work on. Thank goodness it is as easy as some sauce and cheese.
